In Vietnam, where shall students with weak-grade conduct train their conduct in summer vacation? If students have 4.0 average point on Maths, is it eligible for them to pass the grade? Do secondary and upper-secondary students have their learning capacity classified as excellent grade?

Answer:

Pursuant to Article 17 of regulation on Assessment And Classification Of Secondary Schools And High School Students (issued together with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT) stipulating training conduct in summer vacation:

Students graded learning capacity of the school year from Medium or more but conduct of the school year graded weak, shall train more conduct during the summer vacation, the training forms shall be prescribed by the principal.

Task of training during the summer vacation shall be sent notice to the family, government, unions of communes, wards and townships (referred to as commune-level) where students reside. At the end of summer vacation, if students are recognized as completed the task by the commune-level People's Committee, the class teacher shall propose the principal to permit re-classification of conduct; if obtained M grade, shall be passed.

As regulations above, students graded learning capacity of the school year from Medium or more but conduct of the school year graded weak, shall train more conduct during the summer vacation. How long the training takes depends on school's provision. Therefore, you shall contact with your child's school to have detailed information.

Answer:

Pursuant to Article 17 of regulation on Assessment And Classification Of Secondary Schools And High School Students (issued together with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT and amended by Clause 6 Article 2 Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT), students with above medium-grade learning capacity and conduct shall pass their garde. 

Students are considered to have medium-grade learning capacity, if they meet these following requirements: 

- Grade point average of the subjects from 5.0 points or more in which average point of one of three subjects Mathematics, Literature and Foreign Language shall be from 5.0 or more; separately for students of gifted classes of gifted high schools, it is required to add condition of average point of the gifted subject from 5.0 or more;

- There are no subjects that grade point average is below 3.5;

- The subjects evaluated by comments reached S.

- ...

Therefore, in your case, if the student has grade point average of the subjects from 5.0 points or more; Literature or Foreign Language shall be from 5.0 or more; no subjects that grade point average is below 3.5; the subjects evaluated by comments reached S, he/she is eligible to be classified as medium-grade learning capacity.

Pursuant to Clause 2 Article 5 of Regulation on Assessment And Classification Of Secondary Schools And High School Students (issued together with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT) stipulating as follows:

Learning capacity is classified into 5 categories: Good grade (G), rather good grade (R), medium grade (M), weak grade (W), poor grade (P).

Therefore, there are only 5 classification categories as above. There is no excellent-grade learning capacity.
