Regulations on 03 cases of passport fee exemption are about to take effect as of May 22, 2021

The Ministry of Finance promulgates the Circular No. 25/2021/TT-BTC regarding the amounts, regimes for payment, collection, management and use of fees and charges in entry, exit, transit or immigration activities of Vietnam.

According to this Circular, passport fee exemption will be granted in the following cases:

- Overseas Vietnamese that receive written expulsion decisions issued by competent authorities of host countries do not hold passports;

- Overseas Vietnamese that have to be repatriated under treaties or international agreements on re-admission do not hold passports.

- Those fall in humanitarian cases.

(Currently, the Circular No. 219/2016/TT-BTC is not specifying any case of passport fee exemption)

Circular No. 25/2021/TT-BTC is entering into force as of May 22, 2021, replacing the Circular No. 219/2016/TT-BTC dated November 10, 2016 and the Circular No. 41/2020/TT-BTC dated May 18, 2020.
