Regulations on exemption from energy audit requirement for transport activities now available to take effect

On September 29, 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Trade promulgates the Circular No. 25/2020/TT-BCT regulating the planning and reporting of the implementation of the plan for economical and effective use of energy; conduct of energy audits.

The Circular prescribes the exemption from the energy audit requirement in the following cases:

- Key energy-consuming facilities operating in the transport sector will be exempt from the energy audit requirement.  

- If facilities operate in multiple sectors, including transport services, they will be exempt from the energy audit requirement with respect to their transport activities.  

Energy audits will be conducted under the following regulations:

- Regarding key energy-consuming facilities:

+ They assume responsibility for carrying out compulsory energy audits every 3 years.

+ Within 30 days after each energy audit, they are responsible for submitting written energy audit reports to local Departments of Industry and Trade.  

- Regarding facilities not on the list of key energy-consuming facilities:

Encourage industrial, agricultural production, construction and transport facilities that are not on the list of key energy-consuming facilities to conduct periodic energy audits every 3 to 5 years.

The Circular No. 25/2020/TT-BCT is entering into force on November 13, 2020.
