Accordingly, a foreigner’s permanent residence will be considered if he/she have legal accommodation and stable income which ensure their life in Vietnam and under the following circumstances:
- The foreigner has contributions to the development and protection of Vietnam and is awarded the medals or trophies in honor by the State of Vietnam.
-The foreigner is a scientist or expert who is temporarily residing in Vietnam (must be proposed by the relevant Minister, Head of a relevant ministerial Agency or regulatory body)
The foreign is guaranteed by his/her parent, spouse, or child who is a Vietnamese citizen and permanently residing in Vietnam (but such foreigner must have resided in Vietnam for at least 3 consecutive years).
This Law shall come into force since January 1, 2015.
