Vietnam to add 1 more disease to the list of occupational diseases covered by social insurance as of April 1, 2023

On February 9, 2023, the Minister of Health of Vietnam promulgated Circular No. 02/2023/TT-BYT on amendments to Circular No. 15/2016/TT-BYT on occupational diseases covered by social insurance.

According to the Circular, “occupational COVID-19” has been added to the list of occupational diseases covered by social insurance.

At the same time, Appendix 35 on guidelines on occupational COVID-19 diagnosis and assessment has been added.

Therefore, as of April 1, 2023, there are 35 occupational diseases covered by social insurance, for example:

- Occupational silicosis;

- Occupational asbestosis;

- Occupational byssinosis;

- Occupational talc pneumoconiosis lung disease;

- Occupational coal worker's pneumoconiosis;

- Occupational chronic bronchitis;

- Occupational asthma;

- Occupational lead poisoning;

- Occupational intoxication of benzene and benzene homologues;

- Occupational mercurialism;

- Occupational manganism;

- Occupational trinitrotoluene poisoning;

- Occupational COVID-19; etc.

Circular No. 02/2023/TT-BYT comes into force as of April 1, 2023.
