Amounts of benefit and relief visit paid to trade union officers to increase

On March 1, 2022, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issues the Decision No. 4291/QD-TLD on standards and norms of trade union’s expenditures.

According to this document, the amounts of benefit and relief visit paid to trade union officers are subject to the following regulations:

- If officers and workers allowed to sign employment contracts with consent from competent authorities at trade unions receive medical treatment as inpatients or outpatients at hospitals when suffering sickness, accident or epidemic infection, the maximum amount of relief visit will be 1,000,000 dong per visit, and the frequency of visits is restricted to two times each year. (Compared to the previous regulation, the amount is increased by 500,000 dong/visit)

- The maximum amount of death benefit paid to spouse’s relative, spouse or child of the trade union officer is 3,000,000 dong/person; in addition, there will be the condolence payment which is 1,000,000 dong, and other incense and flower payments. (the death benefit and condolence benefit is increased by 1,500,000 dong and 500,000 dong, respectively)

- Families of trade union officers in unexpected difficult situations due to natural disaster, fire, accident, disease or other special reasons are entitled to the maximum benefit of 3,000,000 dong/time; (increased by 2,000,000 dong).

- If relatives (e.g. natural parent, spouse, child, etc,) get sick for many days or are involved in an accident to the extent of receiving medical treatment, they will be entitled to the maximum amount of 1,000,000 dong/visit and receive such amount no more than 2 times each year.   (increased by 500,000 dong)
