Are foreigners working in Vietnam and paying compulsory SI contributions temporary suspended from paying SI contributions to the pension or death benefit fund due to Covid-19 impacts?

According to Article 4 in the Decision No. 23/2021/QD-TTg, foreign workers participating in SI in Vietnam are eligible for temporary suspension from payment of SI contributions to the retirement or survivorship benefit fund.

This means that this support policy does not discriminate against foreign workers and in favour of Vietnamese workers.

However, in compliance with the Decree No. 143/2018/ND-CP, as from January 1, 2022, retirement and survivorship benefits granted to foreign citizens working in Vietnam will take effect.

Hence, such temporary suspension cannot occur in 2021.
