Fine of up to 5 million to be imposed for the act of not stunning livestock before slaughter

The Government has just promulgated the Decree No. 14/2021/ND-CP prescribing administrative penalties for violations arising from livestock production activities.

The Decree prescribes that concentrated slaughterhouses that do not stun livestock before slaughter will be subject to a fine ranging from 3 million dong to 5 million dong.

This penalty amount is also imposed upon concentrated slaughterhouses committing one of the following violations:

- Have none of pre-slaughtered livestock storage facilities complying with hygiene regulations;  

- Beat livestock before slaughter.

Additionally, a fine of between 01 million dong and 03 million dong will be imposed for the act of cruelly beating and torturing livestock.  

Notes: Above are the rates of fine imposed upon individuals; if any organization commits the same violation, they must be fined twice more than the rate of penalty imposed on individuals.

Decree No. 14/2021/ND-CP is entering into force as of April 20, 2021, replacing the Decree No. 64/2018/ND-CP dated May 7, 2018.
