Pursuant to the Law, LD visa (known as visa issued to foreigners entering Vietnam to work under current regulations) is divided into the following two types:
- LD1 visa is issued to foreign workers in Vietnam who have been certified exempt from the Work Permit requirement, unless otherwise provided in international treaties of which Vietnam is a member state;
- LD2 visa is issued to foreign workers in Vietnam who are required to hold work permits.
In addition, DN visa (issued to foreign nationals working for enterprises in Vietnam) is divided into the following two types:
- DN1 visa is issued to foreigners working with enterprises and other entities having legal persons in accordance with Vietnamese laws;
- DN2 visa is issued to foreigners who offer to sell services, establish commercial presence and render other services under international treaties of which Vietnam is a member state.
Law on Amendments and Supplements to several Articles of the Law on Immigration, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam is entering into force from July 1, 2020.
