The Prime Minister has issued the Decision No.
47/2018/QD-TTg that prescribes piloting of the specialized food safety inspection in Hanoi, HCMC, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Dong Nai and Gia Lai.
The Decision prescribes that the President of the district- or commune-level People’s Committee is authorized to issue a decision to carry out the planned or unscheduled inspection.
The unscheduled inspection may be conducted in case of any suspicion as to food safety violations or any complaint or allegation, or upon the request of a superior regulatory authority.
Duration if an inspection undertaken by an inspectorate will be subject to the following regulations:
- Duration of the specialized inspection decided by the President of the district-level People’s Committee will not be longer than 30 days. In certain complicated situations, it may be extended but restricted to 45 days.
- Duration of the specialized inspection decided by the President of the commune-level People’s Committee will not be longer than 20 days. In certain complicated situations, it may be extended but restricted to 30 days.
The piloting will last 01 year (12 month) and commence after 6 months of this Decision’s entry into force.
The Decision No. 47/2018/QD-TTg is set to take effect on January 10, 2019.
