According to the Circular, the methods of declaring nutritional components and nutritional values on food labels are guided as follows:
(1) Information on energy value shall be expressed in kilocalories (kcal); information on the contents of protein, carbohydrates, fat, saturated fat, and total sugars shall be expressed in grams (g); and information on sodium content shall be expressed in milligrams (mg). Information on nutritional components shall be expressed per 100 g or 100 ml of food, per serving of which the quantity is specified on the label, or per package portion where the number of portions contained in the package is declared.
(2) Organizations and individuals may additionally declare the percentage (%) of the nutrient reference value for the nutritional components specified in Article 5 of Circular No. 30/2026/TT-BYT Where an organization or individual voluntarily declares the percentage (%) of the nutrient reference value, such declaration shall comply with the guidelines in Appendix II enclosed with Circular No. 30/2026/TT-BYT.
(3) The nutritional values of the nutritional components specified in Article 5 of this Circular shall be expressed numerically on the food label, with all required nutritional components and nutritional-value information fully declared; shall be presented in a position where all required contents can be easily and fully identified upon observation; and shall comply with the principles prescribed in Article 4 of Circular No. 30/2026/TT-BYT.
(4) The tolerance ranges applicable to the nutritional components specified in Articles 5 and 6 of Circular No. 30/2026/TT-BYT shall comply with Clause 1 Article 49 of Decree No. 37/2026/ND-CP of the Government of Vietnam.
Circular No. 30/2026/TT-BYT comes into force as of July 10, 2026.
Food bearing labels that do not declare nutritional components and nutritional values in accordance with Circular No. 30/2026/TT-BYT and that was manufactured, traded, imported, or circulated in Vietnam before January 1, 2026 may continue to be circulated and used until the expiry date indicated on its label.
