Vietnam to supplement regulations on editing radio and television content upon requests

This is the content of Decree No. 71/2022/ND-CP dated October 1, 2022 on amendments to Decree No. 06/2016/ND-CP on management, provision, and use of radio and television services.

According to the Decree, the editing process and classification of radio and television content upon requests shall be performed as follows:

- Regarding programs on news and current affairs; programs on politics, national defense and security, economy, and society: such programs shall have Licenses to engage in radio and television production and editing issued by press agencies before being provided via services;

- Regarding films:

+ Before being provided via services, service providers shall ensure conditions for the classification of films according to regulations of the Government of Vietnam and take legal liability for the content and film classification results according to the classification criteria stipulated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam;

+ In case service providers have yet to ensure the conditions for film classification, request the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam or agencies authorized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam to conduct the classification regarding films without Film Classification Licenses or Broadcast Decisions;

- Regarding programs on sports and entertainment:

+ Such programs shall be edited and classified before being provided via services and shall display warnings during the provision via services, preventing violations of prohibitions according to the law of Vietnam.

+ Service providers shall, based on principles of editing, classification, and content warnings according to regulations of the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and regulations of relevant laws, perform activities of editing and classification.

Decree No. 71/2022/ND-CP comes into force as of January 1, 2023.
