Quarantine not mandatory for people entering Vietnam for short-term working (short-term visitors)

On December 24, 2021, the Ministry of Health promulgates the Official Dispatch No. 10943/BYT-MT providing medical guidance on prevention and control of Covid-19 for people allowed to enter Vietnam for short-term working (less than 14 days).

According to this document, the short-term visitors include: people who enter Vietnam for diplomatic purposes, official purposes and for working as investors, experts, skilled workers, etc., and their contacts during their stay in Vietnam.

The following general principles must be followed:

Short-term visitors are not subject to quarantine but they must strictly comply with the approved plans and regulations on prevention and control of Covid-19;

Do not contact with the community to ensure safety for the short-term visitors and their contacts. Prevent cross infection during working periods and infection in the community.

The Ministries, central authorities, People's committees of provinces/ cities shall consider demands of invitation of the people entering Vietnam;

Make a list of all contacts of short-term visitors during their working periods and field trips.

Short-term visitors shall have international health insurances or the inviting organization's commitment to pay for treatment costs in cases of COVID-19 infection;

The inviting organizations shall pay all costs for residence, means of transportation and COVID-19 testing in accordance with the regulations.
