Vietnam expects to pursue goals of participating in the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The 2019 Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW of the Politburo mentions goals of maintaining the global innovation index (GII) on the way to participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The specific goals to be achieved as of 2025 must include:

- Maintain GII to be ranked as one of 3 top leading ASEAN countries.

- Build digital infrastructure at the advanced level in the ASEAN region; ensure bandwidth internet services cover all communes.

- Ensure that the digital economy accounts for 20% of GDP; increase labor productivity to greater than 7%/year on average.

- Substantially complete the digital conversion inside Party bodies, state entities, Fatherland Front Committees and socio-economic organizations.

- Rank as one of four top ASEAN countries in the E-Government ranking according to the UN’s assessment.

- Have at least three smart cities located within three key economic regions in the North, South and Central Coast.

The Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW was promulgated on September 27, 2019.
