A lot of conditions for trade in alcohol become invalid

Pursuant to the Decree No. 105/2017/ND-CP on trade in alcohol which has been recently issued by the Government, business entities must conform to the following conditions to be licensed to distribute alcohol:

- Be established under applicable laws and regulations;

- Have a storage facility of which the floor area is at least 150 m2 (the floor area of 300 m2 prescribed in the previous regulation);

- Ensure that commercial alcohol must meet food safety standards;

- Maintain its distribution network throughout at least 02 provinces/cities; in each province/city, it must assign at least 01 alcohol wholesaler (06 provinces and 03 traders in each province as prescribed by the previous regulation);

- Receive the introduction letter or the agreement in principle from another alcohol manufacturer, distributor or a foreign alcohol supplier;

- Stringently comply with regulations on fire safety and environmental protection.

Compared with previous provisions laid down in the Decree No. 94/2012/ND-CP the Decree No. 105 will abolish regulations on conditions concerning business location, transport equipment and financial capability of alcohol trading or distribution companies.
