DECISION
ON VIETNAM’S COORDINATING AGENCY FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND’S
GENERAL DATA DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
THE PRIME MINISTER
Pursuant to the Law on Organization of the
Government of December 25, 2001;
At the proposal of the General Director of Statistics in Report No. 602/TCTK-TH
of September 9, 2002 and comments of the Minister of Planning and Investment,
the Governor of Vietnam State Bank, the Minister of Finance, and the heads of
the concerned agencies,
DECIDES:
Article 1.- To assign the
General Statistics Department to act as Vietnam’s coordinating agency for
participation in the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s General Data
Distribution System (hereafter called the GDDS for short).
Article 2.- The agencies
participating in the GDDS include:
1. The Ministry of Finance.

3. The Ministry of Planning and Investment.
4. The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and
Social Affairs.
5. The Ministry of Health.
6. The Ministry of Education and Training.
7. The Committee for Population, Family and
Children.
8. The State Securities Commission.
9. The Ministry of Natural Resources and
Environment.
10. The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.
11. The Ministry of Trade.

13. The Ministry of Industry.
14. The Ministry of Communications and
Transport.
15. The Ministry of Construction.
16. The Ministry of Culture and Information.
17. The Committee for Physical Training and
Sports.
Article 3.- The
coordinating agency shall have the following functions and tasks:
1. To appoint national coordinators for contacts
with the ministries, branches and the IMF regarding all matters related to the
participation in and the implementation of the GDDS.
2. To coordinate with the ministries, branches
and agencies participating in the GDDS.
3. To assign responsibilities to the ministries,
branches and agencies participating in the GDDS to collect and synthesize
statistical norms in the fields under their respective management according to
the contents required by the GDDS.

5. To contact the IMF for technical assistance
and other contents in the implementation of the GDDS.
Article 4.- The ministries,
branches and agencies participating in the GDDS shall have the following tasks:
1. To collect, synthesize and provide
statistical norms already assigned to the coordinating agency within the
prescribed timelimit.
2. To strictly abide by the States current
regulations on data promulgation with regard to the data submitted to the
coordinating agency for further provision to the IMF.
3. To appoint officials or set up a working
team, that shall be responsible before the ministries and branches for
regularly contacting and coordinating with, and providing data for, the
coordinating agency.
Article 5.- This Decision
takes implementation effect after its signing.
The ministers, the heads of the
ministerial-level agencies and the heads of the agencies attached to the
Government named in Articles 1 and 2 shall have to implement this Decision.
