Lê Ánh

On July 20, 2021, the Minister of Education and Training issues the Circular No. 22/2021/TT-BGDDT regulating assessment of lower and upper secondary education students.

According to this document, approaches for assessment of results of subjects will be implemented as follows:

- Comment-based assessment approach is applied to the following subjects:

Physical education, Arts, Music, Fine Arts, locally designed subjects, experiential learning and career-oriented activities;

Learning results are assessed by using either of comments:  Passed or failed.

(Currently, comment-based assessment approach is applied to such subjects as Music, Fine Arts and Physical Education).

- The integrated comment-based and mark-based assessment approach is applied to subjects belonging to the General Education Program as specified in the Circular No. 32/2018/TT-BGDDT except those assessed according to the comment-based approach.

Results of subjects are assessed by giving marks on the 10-point grading system. If the other grading system is used, all marks given according to this system should be converted into those given according to the 10-point grading system.

A mark may be an integer or a decimal rounded to the nearest tenth.

Circular No. 22/2021/TT-BGDDT is entering into force as of September 5, 2021, replacing the Circular No.58/2011/TT-BGDDT dated December 12, 2011 and the Circular No. 26/2020/TT-BGDDT dated August 26, 2020.
