According to this Circular, general requirements for candidates enrolled in doctoral training programs as follows:
- Graduating from master's degrees or university degrees with excellent or higher grades in relevant disciplines, or graduating and obtaining the equivalent level-7 qualification in the National Qualifications Framework of Vietnam in a number of specialized training disciplines relevant to the doctoral training majors.
(Current regulations prescribe that candidates must hold at least university degrees with excellent grades or master’s degrees).
- Satisfying the entrance requirements set out in the training program standards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training and the entrance requirements of the doctoral training programs in which they apply for enrolment.
- Having research experience demonstrated through their master's theses in research-oriented training programs; or published journal articles and scientific publications;
Or have worked for 02 years (24 months) or longer as lecturers or researchers at training institutions, science and technology organizations.
(According to regulations currently in force, having 01 journal article or presentation in the field of research published in a scientific journal or in the proceedings of a specialized scientific conference or seminar with peer review within 36 months till the date of application).
- Having research proposals and study or research plans for the entire course.
Circular No. 18/2021/TT-BGDDT is entering into force as of August 15, 2021, replacing the Circular No. 08/2017/TT-BGDDT dated April 4, 2017.
