Instructions on how to calculate total teaching periods during school closures due to disease outbreak are now available

Nguyễn Liên

This is the main point of the Official Dispatch No. 1366/BGDDT-NGCBQLGD providing several instructions about working and summer vacation regimes applied to teachers during the period of prevention and control of the Covid-19 disease in the academic year of 2019-2020.

According to this document, as all schools are closed due to the disease, they can follow the principles mentioned below to determine the working regime applied to teachers:

- By taking into account the reality of teaching activities of each school and their teachers which serves as a basis to determine the actual number of teaching periods and convert the length of time spent on performing teaching-related activities, total number of a teacher’s teaching periods will be calculated.

- If any teacher is tasked with planning and carrying out online- or television broadcast-based teaching activities commonly used for multiple groups, grades or levels of students, etc., school principals or headmasters can consult specific conditions and workload of each teacher to employ the particular method of conversion of teaching periods of that teacher or other participants in a fair and correct manner.

- The conversion of teaching periods of each teacher will be allowed upon receipt of consents from Heads of Subdepartments of Education and Training (with respect to kindergartens, primary schools or lower secondary schools), or Directors of Departments of Education and Training (with respect to upper secondary schools).

In addition, summer vacation for teachers in the academic year of 2019-2020 will start after end of that academic year (based on the real time) and end on the start of the academic year of 2020-2021.

Based on particular conditions of each school and workload of each teacher, principals or headmasters can decide summer vacation and annual leave in a rational manner.

The Official Dispatch No. 1366/BGDDT-NGCBQLGD is issued on April 22, 2020.
