The Circular prescribes minimum safety distance required in the farm-sized livestock industry as follows:
- At small-scale farms:
+ Required minimum distance between these farms and concentrated domestic and industrial waste treatment zones or residential areas must be 100 meters;
+ Required minimum distance between these farms and schools, hospitals, markets or sources of tap water supplied to residential areas must be 150 meters.
- At medium-scale farms:
+ Required minimum distance between these farms and concentrated domestic and industrial waste treatment zones or residential areas must be 200 meters;
+ Required minimum distance between these farms and schools, hospitals or markets must be 300 meters.
- At large-scale farms:
+ Required minimum distance between these farms and concentrated domestic and industrial waste treatment zones or residential areas must be 400 meters;
+ Required minimum distance between these farms and schools, hospitals, markets or sources of tap water supplied to residential areas must be 500 meters.
"Regulations on minimum safety distance between farms and concentrated domestic or industrial waste treatment zones, residential areas, schools, hospitals, markets or sources of tap water, etc. will minimize the risk of polluting air and water for inhabitants living nearby. This contributes to resolving the situation which make inhabitants living nearby close doors all day to prevent stinky odour and diseases, etc.", Ms. Nguyen Thuy Han, Legal Advocate and Admin of the LawSoft Co.’s Law Forum, emphasized.
- Required minimum distance between two separate farms of two different owners must be 50 meters.
