This morning (August 13, 2018), the National Wage Council has officially agreed on the region-specific minimum pay rates for 2019 as follows:

- Region I: 4,180,000 VND (increased by 200,000 VND compared to the rate specified in the Government’s Decree No. 141/2017/ND-CP currently in force).

- Region II: 3,710,000 VND (increased by 180,000 VND compared to the rate specified in the Government’s Decree No. 141/2017/ND-CP currently in force).

- Region III: 3,250,000 VND (increased by 160,000 VND compared to the rate specified in the Government’s Decree No. 141/2017/ND-CP currently in force).

- Region IV: 2,920,000 VND (increased by 160,000 VND compared to the rate specified in the Government’s Decree No. 141/2017/ND-CP currently in force).

This means that the minimum pay rate for all 4 regions in 2019 will increase approximately 5.3% on average compared to in 2018 as proposed by the National Wage Council.

The initiative for increase in the region-specific minimum pay rates for 2019 will be submitted to the Government for its approval and issuance of the new Decree on 2019’s region-specific minimum pay rates.

That new Decree will replace the Decree No. 141/2017/ND-CP prescribing the region-specific minimum pay rates for employees working under employment contracts (in effect from January 1, 2019).
