The General Department of Customs has issued the Official Dispatch No. 6484/TCHQ-KDHQ regarding guidelines for application required for inspection of imported and exported goods which is a new task to be implemented in the customs sector.

Pursuant to this document, the General Department instructs Customs Departments of cities and provinces to implement regulations on required application for inspection and analysis of imported and exported goods as follows:

- If there is a demand for inspection of HS codes and other issues relating to HS classification, sample holders prepare application for sample analysis for categorization purposes in accordance with applicable regulations.

- In case of inspection of precursors or prohibited substances, application for inspection must clearly identify names of suspected agents and names of legal documents.

- In case of other demand for inspection, inspection contents, objectives and applicable documents prescribing implementation of inspection must be specified.

Especially, if both inspection and analysis are required with respect to the same type of commodity, applications for inspection and analysis must be separate for sorting purposes as prescribed by the regulation No. 2999.
